Our Advertising Partnership Features

Quarterly leasing of advertising spots:

Each advertising spot is leased for a calendar quarter, with the possibility of leasing a spot for up to one calendar year in quarterly increments. Note that the remaining lease period for a given spot may not exceed one calendar year at any given time. If a spot should be leased for one calendar year, ongoing renewals will be permitted on a quarterly basis.

Exclusive control over a single spot:

As an advertiser, you get to control the spot you lease from us for the duration of your lease. Your advertising content will not have to compete with that of another agent at any point throughout the lease period. (Be advised, however, that a potential competitor may lease a spot adjacent your own.)

One out of six spots to choose from:

Our website features an active-content area in the center, where its primary content is displayed. All advertising occurs to the right and left of the primary content area. Each side area is further divided into an upper, middle, and lower area, for a total of six equally-sized advertising spots: (A) Upper-Left, (B) Middle-Left, (C) Lower-Left, (D) Upper-Right, (E) Middle-Right, and (F) Lower-Right.

Persistent advertising content, regardless of scroll state:

This website features a scrollable forum in its center, filled with dynamic content that may change depending upon user input. However, the relative positioning and visibility of your advertising content will not be adversely affected by the website's scroll state. Put simply, there is no way to "scroll past" your advertisement, even as the forum scrolls by in the central area.

Dynamically-resizeable ads based on window size:

Whenever possible, the advertising spots will be automatically resized to maintain their relative proportion to the main content area in the center. Should the user resize their web browser window, you can expect your advertisement to remain visible in relation to the rest of the webpage, within reason. If necessary, the advertising spots may be repositioned automatically to further ensure visibility.

Priority in future bidding:

You will get priority when bidding for a spot you currently hold. Should an adversarial bid come within 10% of what you bid for the next quarterly installment, you shall win said bid by default.

What We Expect of You

Generally speaking, we strive to provide the most advertiser-friendly environment common sense might allow. There are, however, certain guidelines that each of our advertising partners must adhere to in order to maintain basic website decorum and to best serve the broadest possible audience.

Advertising must be accurate:

All advertising content must be concise and be pertinent to the specific product or service being advertised. No bait-and-switch tactics are permitted when placing an ad. The product or service being advertised must exist and be available for purchase by the target audience or must become available within the time period advertised.

Keep it legal:

All aspects of the product or service being advertised must be deemed lawful for general-public consumption within the United States of America. We reserve the right to reject any advertisement straddling the fence post of legality.

Content must be "work-safe":

All advertising content must be "safe" to display in a workgroup setting or a typical workplace environment. While sexually-suggestive themes are likely permissible, the advertisement of a sexually-explicit product or service is disallowed. We reserve the right to reject any advertisement we deem thus inappropriate.

No malware allowed:

No advertisement may feature any sort of malicious or exploitative code or script aimed at hijacking a user's environment or computing resources, even if said code or script is not deemed outright illegal. At most, an advertisement may redirect the user to a landing page whence the product or service being advertised may be lawfully purchased or consumed.

No deceptive content:

No advertisement will be permitted if it should feature deceptive or fear-mongering tactics to solicit a click. Advertisements in the form of faux popup windows or "security notifications," as well as any similar types of alarmist content aimed to frighten the user into clicking the ad, will be dismissed outright.

Technical Considerations

All ads are clickable images:

All advertisements placed on our website, without exception or exclusion, must come in the form of an image coupled with a single hyperlink, leading to a designated landing page associated with your product or service. No scripts may run in the background until the image is clicked on by the user and no script shall be pointed to directly or sourced within our webpage.

Animated images (GIFs)

Animated images in the GIF format will be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Generally speaking, the animation must be free of harsh contrast changes, rapid cycling, or any other such perceptual manipulations which might annoy the average user. You may advertise more than one product or service by way of a single GIF animation, provided that each of the items thus advertised complies with the content expectations listed above. (Note that a GIF animation will still resolve to a single hyperlink, regardless of its animation state. Keep this in mind when designing the landing page for your ad.)

Ads are hosted directly on our website:

Both the image and its corresponding hyperlink are embedded directly into our website and will not connect to an outside domain until the advertisement is clicked on by the user.

We do not share customer data:

Our privacy policy and contractual obligations to our users restrict us from sharing customer data with any third party, except upon lawful probable cause or as provided by court order. As a consequence, no user data may be passed by our website logic, except that which is strictly necessary for an advertising hyperlink to be triggered. Any data collection which may occur on your part once a hyperlink is triggered shall occur solely at your discretion and entirely outside of our contractual obligations to you.
